Since 2008 the C.A.R. Alliance has been informing teens and adults about the dangers and irrevocable damage caused by distracted driving crashes and providing information and resources to combat it. We are the only Nebraska-based non profit whose sole purpose it is to reduce distracted driving crashes.
The Story of C.A.R.
In May of 2007 Cady Anne Reynolds (C.A.R.) was killed by a distracted driver who ran through a red light while texting. Both Cady and the other driver were just 16 years of age at the time.
In the wake of this crash and its effects on their family Rob and Shari Reynolds set out to educate drivers about the staggering statistics and science behind driver distraction and what drivers of any age can do to be more responsible behind the wheel and reduce crashes. Distractions, especially passenger and smart phone distractions, are highly preventable if drivers change their behaviors and commit to safer driving.
Today the C.A.R. Alliance has reached over 50,000 teens and adults all across Nebraksa, Iowa and beyond. They continue to be advocates for stronger distracted driving laws, greater education about it, and increased driver responsibility.
